Our employees are pretty amazing, and what better way to kick off our employee highlight series called “The Limelight” than to share a little bit about them and why they chose Flexion. So, with that, here's Dan, our VP of Market Access.
How did you first find out about the opportunity at Flexion, and why did you decide to join?
I actually first found the opportunity online. I was doing a search as my previous employer was facing major restructuring. I knew Dan Deardorf’s reputation and applied online and followed-up with him directly. The interview process was what sealed my interest---meeting the commercial team that Dan had assembled, as well as the management team, took me from interested to REALLY interested. I decided to join because the opportunity was new and compelling -- a large market, a competitive space, complexities around access to physician-administered medications—and the people I met were smart, humble, motivated, and passionate.
How do our values resonate with you? How do you see them used at Flexion?
To me, the values are a backbone supporting the entire organization. I tap into the spirit they foster every day. Flexion is an organization where people matter, and everyone’s unique contribution is important.
What are some things you like do for fun?
Besides Market Access? I am a father of three beautiful girls (12, 10, 7) so I spend a lot of time with them. I love nothing more than skiing with my kids or going on a family bike ride. I love reading too, especially US history.
Favorite Flexion moment?
Watching Mike, Neil, and Christina’s faces at the NDA filing celebration...understanding the effort it took to get the organization to that point and really appreciating the team that made it happen.
What excites you about the future at Flexion?
Everything. I get to work with great people on a great product every day.

The Best Office Around
While in the office, Flexion offers snacks, seltzer, coffee and all the peppermint patties you could want! I have been working at Flexion Therapeutics full-time (Less than a year)
Outstanding company that lives their values (focus, ingenuity, tenacity, transparency, and fun) each and every day. The company culture is incredible. I have laughed and had more fun working at Flexion than I have with any other company over my professional career.
Flexion is an awesome company that I am very fortunate and thankful to be a part of. I do not have any cons.
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Flexion Therapeutics.
It appears that Flexion Therapeutics is still in process of establishing recruiting processes and procedures. I originally was promised clear and transparent communications. Unfortunately this turned out to be the opposite. Two phone interviews with the same recruiter (I'm assuming misplaced records was the reason for that), phone interview with the hiring manager. All questions have been answered with maximum details.
Lastly, after finding that the position has been fulfilled (it was removed from the website) I reached out to the recruiting manager thanking for the opportunity and asked to provide some feedback for my improvement. I never got any response back. Recruiting team needs to understand that communication is the key for success and a simple 2 line follow up email is a great way to close the loop with candidates.
