Floyd’s 99 Academy provides ongoing advanced PAID education for our talented hair stylists and barbers to strengthen their technical skills. The Academy has classes that start at an introductory level and continue to advanced levels. These classes are designed to build confidence in using the tools that are necessary to create every and any type of haircut that our clients ask for.
The classes begin when a new employee is hired, and continue throughout to help the employee grow their skills. Most classes are based on building technical skills, however some classes are designed to help the employee gain more confidence in being able to provide product recommendations for their clients.
In addition, other classes will showcase steps we recommend when providing a consultation, as well as steps that will enhance the customer experience and set us apart from the competition. The Floyd’s 99 Academy continually adds new, exciting and different classes that inspire and motivate our employees to grow!
The Floyd's 99 Family Care Fund was created to assist Floyd's 99 employees who are in need of financial assistance in the event of a sudden emergency. Starting in October 2018, for every product that is sold in our Home Office shops and online, $0.25 of the purchase price will be going into the fund. Stay tuned for more details on the fund, how you will be able to contribute to help support your fellow Floyd's 99 employees, and how employees can apply early next year!
Floyd’s 99 Grooming Line was designed to enhance and personalize the services we provide – to allow the Client to take home a piece of the experience received in the shop. Our exclusive formulas are developed and tested by our very own experienced stylists/barbers and are sold exclusively in Floyd’s 99 Barbershops and on our website.
Floyd’s 99 has been actively involved in the communities where we’ve held a presence since our inception. Not only do we care about making a difference, our staff members are intimately connected with local charities, schools, arts programs, businesses, and other institutions
Our National Charity
The Floyd’s 99 Family has many personal connections to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). We’re passionate about doing what we can to help treat, prevent, and find a cure for this devastating disease, one haircut at a time. For that reason, we’ve made it part of our mission to support The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the largest charitable contributor to cutting-edge T1D research, make a life changing impact on the lives of more than 3 million children & adults.
Local Community Outreach
In addition to raising money and awareness, we make it a priority to get out and be part of the community. From support of schools, local organizations, businesses and non-profits, we are constantly seeking new ways to connect and support the local communities we reside in.
In the summer of 2014, we launched the Floyd’s 99 Barberbus™ – a full-service Floyd’s 99 Barber shop on wheels. The Barberbus™ allows us to get out into the community, fundraise for various non-profits and provide hair cuts to those unable to regularly access hair care services.

Floyds 99 barbershop is a really fun place to work with excellent incentives. Its the best job I have ever had. With that being said I feel let down the passed few months. The company has just been turning into a corporate money making machine, rightfully so because the idea is a goldmine but I feel like they're losing sight of the customers and the employees. Putting us second to your profits when we are the ones who make ypu your money and keep the doors open. The prices have been going up too much too fast, we are visibly losing clients and that is one of the main reasons why. It really sucks. Then the employees hours are getting cut, this also really sucks because a lot of us are relying on this job to pay rent, bills, groceries. We shouldn't have to get a second job, we go to school for the trade were in. Our work should be respected but cutting our hours doesn't really show us that were appreciated. It shows that were just replaceable, that you would rather make more profit than take care of your employees that take care of you. I don't know where you get consulting or what's wrong with the CFO or if you even have help with that but please pay attention. Ask employees at stores in various regions that are kinda slow. Listen to your employees. Sure we probably didn't go to school for consulting but we can for sure tell you why somethings not selling and why were slow and we can definitely give you realistic ideas. This is a great company and I would hate to see it turn into a typical money driven supercuts with a straight razor.
Advice to Management
Pay attention to pricing, its a lot more important than it seems you realize
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Floyd's 99 Barbershop (Chandler, AZ) in July 2016.
You have a phone interview, then in office interview, and then a practical interview. Phone interview you speak to the district manager, quick 10 minutes phone call, asking you simple questions. Then you meet the store manager of the location you applied to and the shop for an in person interview. You will sit alone in the back office and answer questions and fill out paperwork. For the practical you will bring in a model and do a skin fade, preferably. You will be tested on skill and how you speak to the model.
