    Catering Coordinator Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Bellingham, WA
    Declined Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Four Points By Sheraton (Bellingham, WA) in December 2018.

    Interview

In my first interview I met their Sales Manager and Events Manager. The interview lasted about an hour. It was an enjoyable interview and I connected with the two interviewers. I was called back in for a second interview where I met the General Manager of the hotel; we talked for just 15 minutes or so. I got an email with the offer a couple of weeks later. I asked some follow up questions and those were satisfactorily answered, however they made it clear that the offer was non-negotiable. Also, they wanted an answer within a few days, and when I asked for more time to consider (as I had an interview elsewhere scheduled for the following week) they withdrew the offer, citing that if I really wanted it, I would have taken it. They're not wrong; the salary was low for industry average ($31,000) and the vacation was terrible. (0 days for a full year, then 10 per year after.) The healthcare and 401(K) were both fine.
