    Senior Software Engineer Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fundrise (United States) in Apr 2021

First, I had a phone call with VP of Engineering Mike Christensen where we talked about my background, opportunities at Fundrise, and the role they were looking to hire for (a Senior Software Engineer focused on frontend engineering). That went well, and we scheduled a 4-hour interview day shortly after that.

On the interview day, in the first 2-hour block, I was on a video chat with 4 or 5 other engineers on the team that I would join that asked about my background in frontend engineering, my experience with AngularJS and Vue, my experience upgrading JS frameworks, and some typical JS knowledge questions.

In the second 2-hour block, with a different set of 4 or 5 engineers, we covered some more ground in JavaScript including performance tuning and optimization, talked about deeper concepts in Vue like reactivity in Vue and potential gotchas there, and I was given a Leetcode style question to talk through and solve in JavaScript. I came up with an inefficient solution that still worked, and the interviewers walked through some ways to optimize it for best time/space-complexity.

Around a week and a half after the interview day, I was given an offer.

It was a great process overall. I thought the questions they asked were all fair, and I'm glad I got to meet the team I would work with.

How does reactivity in Vue work with arrays and objects and how does it differ from strings, numbers, and booleans?
