    Application

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6+ weeks. I interviewed at G&A Partners (Houston, TX).

    Interview

    The screening through the job fair was odd. No discussion of experience, a five minute rundown on the company, and a handshake.

    Received a call to schedule a phone interview and was given a “suggested” time, and promised confirmation by end of day. Received no confirmation, and when trying to reach the recruiter, learned they were out of the office for the rest of the day.

    Received an interview call that was never confirmed. Fortunately, I had blocked the time just in case, and was able to complete the call. Most of the interview was the hiring manager telling me that I wouldn’t be happy and didn’t want the job. Once she learned my family status - she specifically said she didn’t think it would be a good fit (despite decades of experience) because I have children.

    Finished the interview, was given feedback that I would receive a call to schedule the next two steps of the hiring process, and.........nothing.

    After a week, followed up with the recruiter to see if there was anything else I could provide, and was told that I would hear from them soon.

    It’s been several weeks now with zero follow up. For a company that outsources HR, it’s disconcerting to encounter discrimination in the initial interview process, and unbelievably unprofessional to “ghost” a candidate, although I have read other reviews where this has happened.

    So very disappointed, and have shared my experience with other friends in the industry - apparently there’s a reputation for this.
