-GARY DEJIDAS, P.E., MBA, GAI PRESIDENT AND CEO
Brief History of the Firm. Founded in 1958 by Carnegie Mellon University engineering graduate students, GAI developed a strong professional reputation in foundation engineering by supporting the needs of nationally-recognized industrial and energy clients. In the late 1960s, and in response to urban growth and mounting environmental regulations, GAI diversified into transportation and land development while adding niche services in survey, environmental studies, and cultural resources, setting GAI apart from more traditional engineering firms. Strategic decisions to open offices located near our clients in growing markets throughout the U.S. led to the rapid growth of our firm. Corporate-wide consolidation of strategic acquisitions diversified our firm and transformed GAI into a premier engineering, planning, economic and environmental firm in the U.S. and abroad.
We are engineers, planners, archeologists, surveyors, and environmental specialists. We are technicians, designers, administrators, and communicators.
Here at GAI, we offer you the opportunity to work, learn, grow, and lead in a supportive environment alongside accomplished colleagues.

I have been working at GAI Consultants full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Supportive of professional development, ability to work across a diverse range of projects and industries, and some interesting team-building initiatives. There always seems to be events in the offices for special occasions, holidays, etc.
Company will host programs that can apply towards professional certification development hours.
Benefits seem to be competitive within in the engineering field.
Cons
Not that I have come across.
Advice to Management
Overall culture continues to improve over the past few years from what I have heard and seen.
Make development opportunities more visible.
Application
I applied online. I interviewed at GAI Consultants in September 2017.
Interview
Initial phone interview with the company. They wanted to know my background and where I would fit in with their company. Their primary goal was to look for a engineering manager. However, they were also interested in some of my other skillsets.
