GLY Construction – Why Work For Us?

Passionately local – working for our region, our people + our great outdoors.

This is our place in the world. We’re planners by nature, builders at heart, and innovators with a passion for problem-solving.

Never stand still – on or off the jobsite. We are mountain climbers, photographers, river guides, writers and triathletes and are often found outdoors enjoying our beautiful Northwest backyard. Biking, boating, hiking, golfing, fishing and hunting are regular occasions for camaraderie and good-natured competition.

Grow together. We’re a team of diverse personalities with varied pursuits, but we’re united by our appreciation of hard work and dedication to giving back. We value each other, and like to share successes, challenges and our personal milestones. Yes, that means weddings, babies and monster steel-head photos. It all makes up the fabric of our community.

Share a common goal. The Pacific Northwest is our home and we want to preserve the quality of life – for our children’s children. On every project, we have the opportunity to play a role in ensuring economic vitality, improving our communities and preserving our natural resources so that we can all share in the future success of our region.

Skilled builders, lifelong learners, problem-solvers, collaborators, people who care.

People matter most. GLY’s dynamic teams consist of smart, diverse and talented professionals dedicated to the best outcomes. Each of us is part of the solution and each goes the distance for the team. We work to create the best experience for everyone involved, resolving challenges and reaching consensus with good humor and mutual respect. Together, we take care of the project and each other and in turn, enjoy and share success.

Inquire. Grow. Communicate. Continuous learning is one of our most deeply held values. Our clients are facing greater challenges with cost, time and efficiency in an ever-changing environment. Empowered to innovate and trained to stay abreast of change, we are able to help our clients navigate complexity, make good decisions and realize the best returns.

Seeking challenge, smart co-workers + a great company? let’s talk.

Reimagine your path. As we continue to recruit, develop and provide meaningful career opportunities, we are on the search for people from varying backgrounds, with the experiences and skill sets that reflect our burgeoning society. Success in a highly variable economic marketplace also means strategically managing change to adapt and plan for those challenges. By investing in our employees, and prioritizing a culture of collaboration, we’re sustaining the flexibility and skilled resources necessary to create efficiency, increase accuracy, and deliver the highest quality on our projects.

Current openings. GLY is looking for people with great potential, talent and drive. We value those who enrich our culture and workplace, not only with their skills and teamwork approach, but with their individuality and personal interests.

I have been working at GLY Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent company ethos and opportunities for personal and professional development. GLY continually puts it's people (safety!), clients, and projects first; while striving to be the best technical builder in the region. The quality and talent of GLY's employees is unmatched; including upper management.

    Cons

Deeply imbedded in the company culture is a desire for continuous improvement; at times this can be taxing on staff.

    Advice to Management

Continue to leave your doors open; listen to your employees and consider their comments and feedback. Open and honest communication is always appreciated. Thank you for your leadership.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GLY Construction in April 2016.

    Interview

The interview process was very fair and transparent. The HR team was great to work with and were the initial point of contact. After a couple video calls, including one call with the principals of the firm, there was a single interview. The in-house interview was informal and a great chance to meet the key staff. The entire process was very efficient. The abilities assessment only took a few minutes and the HR staff did a great job explaining the assessment. Overall a great interview process.
