  1. Junior Trader Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Geneva Trading (Chicago, IL)

    Interview

Honestly by far the most frustrating and inept company I interviewed with. I applied online in early Dec 2018 and only heard back mid March 2019 (I thought I was hearing back from companies in the group of applications I sent out Feb, but upon further investigation it was Dec). Everything about Geneva's process was slow and uncoordinated.

It took a full week to schedule the first phone interview with trading team lead. It took almost a full month to hear back after my second phone interview with no contact in between; I was then told that the team I had previously interviewed with was moving in another direction and I was being considered for a different team. I was given numerous petty excuses i.e. "I was out of the office", "markets have been very volatile and required more attention", but I continued because I was somewhat desperate.

The final round on-site interview consisted of two duo style interviews, one of which was missing someone. Afterwards I was told generic two weeks period which already is rather long of a response time. Two weeks go by and they said "all the feedback was positive and they really enjoyed getting to know you but we have some interviews scheduled that we want to see through" which in hindsight was just a means to drag me along. Finally nearly 4 weeks after my on-site they told me that they had broken up a team in their company and were moving around people internally instead of hiring externally.

Overall Geneva's process was long, unclear and straight disrespectful. I would not consider applying to Geneva worth your time. I will say, the people I interviewed with did seem quite intelligent (one was a former poker player).
    Interview

First two phone interviews were very specific towards my resume. I had my poker results and experience on my resume and the former poker player asked questions like "where do you play at? what software did you use to study? "
