I worked at Georgetown Preparatory School full-time (Less than a year)
Beautiful campus. Great kids. Good teachers. Compensation was good for an internship.
I worked at the ESL summer program and the director frequently made inappropriate, sometimes racist remarks, including use of the N word. Employees were frequently emotionally abused. Frequent miscommunications on part of the director were 100% blamed on the workers. I felt like a jail warden.
Advice to Management
Take a long look at your faculty members.
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Georgetown Preparatory School (North Bethesda, MD) in March 2012.
Skype interview. The director seemed as if she had already decided to hire me before the interview started. She basically described the job and asked if I was interested. In retrospect, I don't feel that the information I received was accurate at all. I was never told that the program's discipline was so draconian, for example.
No negotiation. To be honest, I would not have accepted this offer if I had received any others.
