I worked at Georgia Department of Natural Resources full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits provided and the pay was decent. Very flexible in taking time off and accumulating leave which I used to fulfill service requirements for 30 year retirement.

    Cons

Pay increases are subject to the General Assembly and are not frequent. Comparable jobs in the Federal government and private industry pay about 30-50% more.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and you will maintain institutional knowledge that is passed from long term employees to new employees concerning aspects of the job. Be competitive as much as possible with salary increases.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

    Interview

The interview process consisted of two interviews for me. The first was a short phone call to weed the large number of applicants down for an in-person interview. The phone call comprised of three questions that asked if I met the specified requirements, why I'd like to work there, and the lowest wage that I would work for. The in-person interview was impersonal and dull with the reviewer reading standard interview questions from a sheet.
