Billions of dollars have been put into ride-sharing startups like Uber and Lyft. Car-sharing isn't quite as sexy, but the space is getting more money too. San Francisco-based startup Getaround, which allows users to rent cars from other users by the hour or day, announced on Thursday that it has raised $45 million in its new Series C round.

Getaround – Why Work For Us?

We imagine a world where all cars are shared.

Working at Getaround means tackling one of today's biggest problems: car overpopulation. There are 1 billion cars in the world, and the average car sits parked for over 22 hours a day. Our mission is to put those 22 billion hours to good use.

We need your help.

We're just getting started. From Marketing and Sales to Engineering and Product, we're driving the future of mobility forward, one car at a time.

We're looking for smart, passionate, and energetic self-starters to join our growing team. We believe the future of transportation starts with you.

Check out the Getaround jobs page, and start building the future today.

Good office vibes

An environment suitable for solving global challenges is very important to us. Gone are the stuffy cubicles and isolating offices; here you'll find an open, collaborative and pet-friendly space to do your best work.

Plenty of vacation

While we're passionate about what we do, we work to live, not live to work. Vacations are for experiencing and enjoying the world we hope to shape. Work hard, play hard, and be happy - that's how we roll.

Flex office hours

Looking for more work-life balance or simply want to skip the rush-hour commute? Our flexible approach to work allows us to manage our time more effectively. Who said inspiration only strikes between 9 and 5?

Health and wellness

Our generous health, dental and vision benefits keep our teams healthy, happy and harmonious - but it's our wide range of wellness programs that really help to keep us all in shape and out of the doctor's office.

Getaround credit

You've got to practice what you preach, right? We think so, and shower our team in Getaround credits to help them... well, get around. Why have one company car, when you can access a fleet of hundreds?

Good times

The team that plays well together, works brilliantly together. So we let the good times roll at Getaround. From happy hours to team trips, our journey is full of fun stories, new friends, and (of course) foosball.

Ready to drive the future of mobility forward? Join our team.

Take initiative. Get stuff done.

We're a community of builders, doers, and dreamers. We're focused on building great customer experiences that scale. At Getaround, we challenge you to think bigger, be more strategic, and, most importantly, get stuff done. Our engineers ship code daily, build new features, and develop advanced frameworks.

Foster collaboration. Work efficiently.

We're a team-first company. That means working closely with your fellow engineers, whether it's pair programming or reviewing each other's pull requests. Our engineers communicate across and within teams to share knowledge and because, let's be honest, we really like talking to each other.

    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Getaround in February 2017.

Applied to the Android Engineer role on Getaround's website. A week later, get an email from HR with a short exercise to complete. It was very simple: create an Android app that pulls data from 500px and displays a grid of images. Finished it in a day or so and submitted. Waited about 3 weeks with no response, so I replied back to HR. They mentioned that their team was working around the clock on a large project and haven't been able to look at my exercise. Then two weeks later, get the rejection email without any reason or feedback.

For one month of waiting and no real feedback or active communication with HR, I felt like it was a big waste of time. Do the exercise if you want practice with developing Android apps, but better to save your time and look elsewhere.
