I worked at Glen Elston Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre full-time (Less than a year)
It's a safe area. Nice patio.
Too many to list here. Filthy working conditions. Responsible for 40+ patients, always running out of supplies, the elevators don't work, the pay is poverty level for CNAs and other non-management positions. Every employee I have talked to is miserable. They will randomly dock your pay. They intimidate not only the workers but the residents. The entire facility smells of urine and feces -- with the exception of the first floor. If you take a tour, they will not show you floors 2 thru 4. High turn over rate. Physical abuse from CNAs to residents, and vice-versa. Injuries due to having to lift residents with no assistance. Need to work double shifts just to pay basic bills.
Advice to Management
Sidney Glenner: Stop paying hush money to the department of aging, local attorneys and aldermen. Pay livable wages and stop treating your residents like they are sewer rats. Everyone deserves dignity and respect. They don't deserve one star.
