We solve problems.

Find out what sets our firm apart, and why you should join us.

We want you to be your whole self, in and out of the workplace.
At Grant Thornton, our people are talented, intellectually curious and driven to make things better for our clients, our community and our firm. It's one of the reasons our people are proud to work here. From day one, you have the opportunity to contribute to our results and have your voice heard.

We have a healthy, high-performance culture where people feel valued, respected and encouraged to contribute all their unique abilities. Up and down the organization, we support your quality of life and your unique aability to contribute. We challenge you -- and we support you -- to do and be your best in and out of the workplace.

Come thrive professionally and personally in a collaborative, vibrant and inclusive culture, where you can make a difference every day.

We live (and work) by our values.
At Grant Thornton, we are bound together by a set of global values and supporting behaviors that shape the way we work with our clients, with each other and within our communities. These values are:

  • Collaboration
  • Leadership
  • Excellence
  • Agility
  • Respect
  • Responsibility

Our values are the foundation of each step we take toward as a leading firm serving dynamic organizations. They are the bedrock of our culture as a modern organization that is inclusive, respectful, flexible and where employees can truly and fully be themselves.

Build a strong foundation for growth.
Starting your career on the right foot is important. You want to grow with a firm that’s interested in your long-term professional development. That's us. We'll help you learn the technical skills that will grow your career, and provide guidance, mentorship and inspiration along the way. You will gain valuable experience by working alongside our approachable, available leaders, and through formal leadership and technical training courses.

We are committed to your growth. Learn more about our career development and career mobility.

Flexible time off. Really.
In November 2015, we introduced a new flexible time off policy, instead of a predetermined set of paid time off days. Our employees don't need to deplete their PTO banks to take a special trip or take care of family obligations. We are the first public accounting and consulting firm to move away from the traditional paid time off model in an industry focused on utilization.

We do this because we trust our employees to manage their own time, which in turn allows them to return to work refreshed, with better ideas and solutions for clients. It's one more way we encourage you to bring your whole self to work. You decide when and how much time you need to pursue your passions. Go ahead, climb Kilimanjaro. Go to the beach. Reconnect with your kids.

See how employees reacted to the new policy when we shared the news! (Spoiler alert: They were delighted.)

I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great people to work with, everyone is inclusive and friendly.
-The work/life balance is good. Hours are busy, but manageable. Our Flex Time Off policy gives us unlimited time off as long as we are maintaining certain percentage of chargeable hours, which is not hard to do.
-Great culture. GT has really stressed culture in recent years. We strive for Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Responsibility, and Respect.
-We are a mid-tier firm, so we are working with large clients on a regular basis. However, we are still able to have a "small firm feel" when it comes to working with small teams.
-Opportunities. Endless opportunities at Grant Thornton. You have flexibility to transition into different service lines within the firm. Recruiters are also constantly trying to hire you into industry positions. Even in your current position, you have the freedom to choose the industry you're interested in (financial services, real-estate, etc.).
-Flexibility. As you move up in the firm, you have more freedom to choose the hours you work. Some people like to come in early and leave early, others come in late and stay late, most work the normal 9 to 5 during off peak times.
-Growth. GT is a growing firm. We are really trying to differentiate ourselves from the other mid-tier firms through our marketing campaign. This gives us access to better clients and better brand recognition.

    Cons

-It is public accounting, so obviously hours are long (55-70 hours during busy season, 35-50 during off-peak times)
-Travel. I am fortunate and only travel about 25% or less, but I know people who are on the road a lot.

    Forensic Advisory Interview

    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Grant Thornton (Arlington, VA) in February 2018.

    Interview

I have interviewed with all four Big 4 firms and a number of other accounting/financial firms.... NO FIRM even came close to Grant Thornton in these areas: 1) Friendliness from top to bottom 2) Timeliness - process was all completed in less than 2 weeks from first contact to receiving an offer 3) Professionalism - everyone knew their stuff and did not treat you like some clueless college kid and 4) the "IT" factor - you either have it and know what it is or you don't. GT has IT!
