  1. AML Role Interview

    Anonymous Employee in United States
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview
    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Green Key Resources (United States) in Mar 2021

    Interview

A recruiter who previously contacted me after I put in an application, and then proceeded to ghost me until weeks later (and then for months after that) randomly reached out to me over email to schedule a call for the next day, to discuss a role she thought I would be a good fit for. Having previously been burned by this recruiter (see interview review for "Compliance Officer" from February 2020), I scheduled a call with her for the following afternoon, but had no expectation that she’d actually call me.

Sure enough, the time we scheduled the call for came and went, and the recruiter did not call me, nor did she reach out to offer an explanation as to why she did not call. This was two days ago, and today I blocked her on all platforms and filtered her email address to my trash folder. Once was already bad enough, but fine, things happen, people are human. Twice, and I don't have time for the run around.

Luckily, I am happily employed at my current job, and was going to use this call as practice anyway (most likely, unless the job she had was for at least 1.5x my current salary) - but what if I were someone who lost my job in the pandemic and was depending on this call after months out of work? Or what if it wasn’t a pandemic and I was working in-office, and had to find a private place and time to take her call, without my boss noticing I was gone too long... but ended up being away from my desk for half an hour, not during lunch, waiting for a call that never came (which is what happened during my previous experience with this recruiter)? I truly do not understand how these people get away with treating candidates like this.

So, to recap: SHE reached out to me to schedule this call. While knowing that I was about 7 months into my current role (because she congratulated me for it on LinkedIn), so why try to call me about another role this soon - and a role that would probably be not as good as the one I’m in, judging by what these recruiters usually have on offer? And then she did not call at the time we agreed upon, for the communication that SHE initiated, and offered no reason for her lack of communication.

I wish I could name and shame this recruiter without opening myself up to potential legal action, to warn others not to waste their time. She is beyond incompetent and unprofessional and needs to be fired. She can’t be much of a recruiter if she schedules calls with people - on numerous occasions - and then doesn’t bother to actually call them?
