I have been working at Gremlin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting to create and build your own Market has been incredibly rewarding for me Personally and Professionally. I am able to take so much of what I've learned and apply it here in a lot of really cool ways. There is an incredible amount of Trust around new Ideas, allowing you to iterate and prove out without constantly looking over your shoulder. It's amazing.

    Cons

Expectations are incredibly high as what we are trying to do has never been done before (we are creating this space after all). I don't think that processes seen elsewhere exactly flow the same success when it comes to Chaos Engineering.

    Advice to Management

As we grow we have hit a few road blocks which I understand happen. My challenge to you all is to keep a very open mind around trying new things. I know we want to keep the Pedal down but let's make sure we focus on what got us too the Dance.. Our People.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gremlin (San Jose, CA) in December 2018.

    Interview

A third-party recruiter called me specifically about an opening at Gremlin. I already had a job I loved and said I wasn't interested. They told me about what Gremlin is doing and I decided to talk. It never hurts to talk, right? I interviewed in online video chats with people from top leadership, engineering, developer advocacy, and marketing. Every single person I met with impressed me. So did the company's offer. I hope to retire as a Gremlin many years from now.

    Interview Questions

    • Honestly, I asked at least as many questions as I was asked. Here is one from engineering: describe the difference between virtualization and containers. Follow up was to describe the difference between using Docker and using Kubernetes.   Answer Question
