    Positive Outlook

I worked at Grinaker-LTA (More than a year)

    Pros

Aveng is a good company to work for, I gained a lot of experience working on the coal fired turbine pipeline.

    Cons

Having a joint venture and having the client as your partner in the company was not a good idea. The line managers loyalty was not on the side of Aveng .

    Advice to Management

To take note of roomers doing the rounds, stay neutral and keep your site at its best at all times. Keep paper trail at all times and stand on your rights.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Grinaker-LTA (Johannesburg (South Africa)) in June 2008.

    Interview

    I was referred
to the company by a colleague of my fathers. Then, the head of the mining division called me to hear where I would fit into the divisions ooerations with my given skillset. At the time my 3D modelling skills were particularly strong. So I was called in for a formal interview. They wanted to know what my ambitions were and why I wanted to work for them in particular. After the interview I was offered a summer job in which I would create a full 3D model of a planned gold mine. It is difficult for me to give any advice for potential interviewees, because I think that my employment there was largely as a result of the abovementioned recommendation.
