I worked at Groendyke Transport full-time (Less than a year)
Home every night 95% of the time. Reliable workload and safe working conditions. High level of responsibility is necessary if you like being part of a team of drivers that are true professionals.
Sometimes workload can be exhausting and troublesome but when I worked there, the shop manager was replaced and equipment became much better and more reliable. Not all terminals are managed well, but I had a fantastic manager and head dispatcher.
Advice to Management
If you claim to invest $10,000 on every new employee, don't be so quick to dismiss them for minor mistakes or even a cross drop. You might be shooting your self in the foot by bailing out on the fuel drivers you overwork every day. Look at all the factors before you fire, not just the cost of correction.
I applied online. I interviewed at Groendyke Transport (Hutchinson, KS) in August 2015.
Very professional yet staff seemed to be genuine with concerns of home time and desired routes. Managers were upfront with what they could promise vs reality of certain routes. It was a very positive experience and staff was very helpful in guiding new employees through the hiring process.
Company was upfront with what they can do vs experience
