I have been working at GulfMark Offshore full-time (More than 3 years)
The company is good at business, and they will survive the current downturn in the oilfield. They reward loyalty, and seniority accordingly. Opportunities to advance.
They treat their sailors a bit indifferently, management doesn't really want to hear about personal issues, or plans. Be ready when they call you to come to work, and when you want to get off, be patient.
Advice to Management
Improve communications between office and seagoing personnel. Make your seagoing personnel feel heard, and be more considerate to personal needs and plans.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at GulfMark Offshore (New Orleans, LA) in April 2014.
Was called in for interview and was a waste of my time and travel. Had been a prior employee and was contacted by head office to go in for position. Was warned by other prior individuals it would be waste of time, they do not hire "OLD" people there. Orders came from head office. They were right, got there went through the interview and was told they would contact me. Never happened. Was over from the start due to my age.
