I have been working at Gumbiner Savett full-time
I started working at GS as an intern and have been consistently recognized for my work and have received several promotions.
The company is very flexible with hours and outside of work commitments. The work from home policy has been great for people (including me) who have long commutes. The emphasis on work-life balance here is something that many/most accounting firms do not have. It is a great place to work if you have a family.
The people here are awesome. They are friendly, kind, and great teammates... which is important because it can get hectic, especially during the busy seasons. I always feel supported by my peers. All levels of the company are excellent when it comes to technical skills, and from my experience are always willing to serve as a resource to you.
The work is challenging, which I personally enjoy and has definitely helped me grow as a professional. The firm has a wide variety of clients and industries that it serves, so you are never bored.
Our upper management is busy with client work, so they are not always physically in the office. However, I have always found that they make time for me when I request it, and are willing to serve as a resource, a sounding board, and provide me with feedback on my work.
I applied online. I interviewed at Gumbiner Savett (Santa Monica, CA) in April 2017.
Applied on their website, was asked to submit cover letter and transcript. About 2 weeks after the deadline, got a call for office interview(April). Basically met with 1 manager and then 2 senior accountants. People are nice and I can tell that they love their jobs in the firm. Because they were going through a reorganization in the firm, I never heard from them till July.
