Technical Account Manager
Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

ProsLots to love about working here. There are caring & empathetic teammates. Thoughtful people ops/HR folks who truly help and work hard to have a positive employee experience (and it shows). Great
ConsHasn’t been immune to some of the macro challenges others have seen in 2022. Startup life can be both rewarding and challenging at times, and that is the case here as well. No 401k match.
Advice to ManagementKeep focus on the employee experience and fast paced product evolution. In challenging times also comes opportunity and Guru is well positioned to capitalize with the right focus & urgency.
Diversity and Inclusion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging at Guru
Teams that have diversity when it comes to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and abilities perform better. That’s not an opinion; it’s a fact—and it’s one that we at Guru have been focused on for years.
As we started to see our headcount grow quickly in the aftermath of our Series A round, we realized it wasn’t just enough to hope for a more diverse company; we had to create an intentional and deliberate strategy to ensure we were actively building one. We continuously refine our hiring practices, track metrics, educate our team, and partner with the community.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Guru Technologies (United States) in Nov 2022
InterviewIt was such a delightful process interviewing at Guru. The hiring manager and recruiters were on top of things and ensured I had everything I needed throughout the process. The action items and steps I was provided for each interview were clear and I knew what I had to do without hesitation.
A lot of the process was informal, really just understanding my background and what I have accomplished as a customer success manager. Some of the questions definitely were focused on cross-team collaboration, especially with account managers and sales.Answer Question
