    Senior Software Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Employee in United States
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview
    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Guru Technologies (United States)

    Interview

Unfortunately, my experience with Guru was not the best.
From the day I applied to the day I got the final decision, 11w (!!!) elapsed. That's A LOT considering the interviews were:
    1. Recruiter (classic quick phone call)
    2. Hiring manager phone call (tell me about yourself and a few tech. questions)
    3. Take home test ( I didn't take long on it)
    4. 2-3h panels (online due to covid)
4.1. - 1h technical: easy leetcode question + short "how would you do this and why did you chose that way" system design like question
4.2. - 30min cultural with 2 people. They had some questions ready to read
4.3. - 30min hiring manager but nothing technical. Again, he just read some questions from somewhere.
4.4. - 30min executive interview. I didn’t have this one, as the person couldn’t make it and I don’t think it was in my advantage

I always had to email them to get feedback on previous step and they took long to schedule next steps.

In the end, I felt like all the interviews went really well, just to get an answer (almost a week later) that they are not moving on.

When I asked for feedback, they said that all was good, but the hiring manager thought I was not at their desired seniority. I asked if they could give me a concrete example on how he got to that conclusion, so that I can improve on, but they had no answer. How could they? Since he decided on my seniority without asking any technical questions or any questions related to my skills. I would even add the questions here, to make my case clear, but I’ll refrain from that.

The people were nice, but unfortunately, I feel like I wasted my time.
    Interview

Why Guru and A LOT of cultural fit questions.
