The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a defined benefit (DB) pension plan that has been helping build the foundation for a financially secure retirement for Ontario’s healthcare workers.

The reason HOOPP has been the leading defined benefit pension plan provider in the Ontario healthcare community is simple: the Plan is tailored to the healthcare sector and offers its members retirement income for life.

HOOPP members make regular contributions over the length of their career. When they retire, they receive a monthly income based on how much they earned and how many years they contributed. They will not outlive their pension.

At HOOPP, our driving purpose is to provide healthcare workers with a financially secure retirement. We manage all aspects of the HOOPP pension plan for healthcare workers; we not only administer the plan but we also invest member and employer contributions into the HOOPP Fund to ensure that pensions can be paid now and into the future.

Our mission is to deliver on our pension promise. This objective shapes how we invest in order to ensure stable and secure pension benefits for our members. To continue to realize our Mission, we focus on two strategic imperatives:

Maintaining a Favourably Funded Position
To manage HOOPP assets and liabilities to minimize funding volatility in order to ensure price and benefit stability for members and employers.

Defined Benefit Advocacy
To maintain the HOOPP DB promise for members in a changing environment by engaging government and stakeholders.

To deliver valued pension service and information through accurate, timely and efficient operations in line with member, pensioner and employer needs, while managing cost.

In 2015, we raised more than $600,000 for the United Way Toronto & York Region. In 2016, our HOOPP Racers team has had the highest per person fundraising for the United Way Rat Race, for a second consecutive year.

    I have been working at HOOPP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    IT has designed and delivered multiple innovative solutions and continues it's transformation.
    ISG lead the Agile Innovation model and other companies are now following ISG's leadership.
    Great outlook for next 4-5 years with strong confidence and support for IT innovation.

    Cons

    No real Cons to speak of.
    Many of the negative reviews are likely from people that just can't innovative, can't adapt to change in IT and are more operational (i.e. rinse and repeat) Developers and Analysts.
    The type of people that will THRIVE in ISG are the one's that are innovative/creative and can take the bull by the horn and push things forward. These types of people will get recognized and will have the full support of the organization

    I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at HOOPP (Toronto, ON (Canada)) in May 2019.

    Interview

    Recruiter then First on call basic technical. Interviewer seems to be hurry 30 mins call finished in 20 mins. Basic question. Started with technical question like no basic get to know question, any question for me at the end. I was excited about hoopp but once finished i didn't feel disappointing at all after talking to interviewee, Just you have great benefits package doesn't make great place to work, you still have to present that to candidate.
