I have been working at Hachette Book Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance. Good people. Decent benefits. Excellent discount on HBG and client books.

    Cons

Insurance costs a little high, not always a clear path for promotion and career. Salaries are on the low end. By raising salaries based on % of current salaries, it is impossible to catch up to current market values and pay employees equitably.

    Advice to Management

Slow down on the mergers & acquisitions. We don't need to become Penguin Random House to succeed. The constant adds to clients and business acquisitions without major system upgrades are overwhelming our infrastructure and employees. Sometimes management forgets to think about the everyday employees and logistics because they are caught up in big picture.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hachette Book Group (New York, NY) in March 2017.

    Interview

Simple, first interview with an HR person, the second with the department head. They were both over the phone, and after the first interview they asked to set up the second about a week later. They took 4 weeks to reach out with their decision after the interviews

    Interview Questions
