I worked at Harb Levy & Weiland full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible atmosphere, interesting people. Room for advancement if you work for it, but you do need to work for it. Promotions are not that casual,

    Cons

Bottlenecks on the career path at times, turnover stays pretty low, so promotions may not come with the associated responsibilities.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Harb Levy & Weiland (San Francisco, CA) in January 2009.

    Interview

Via staffing agency, received temp-to-hire interview with Administrative Director and one of the CPAs I was to work for. The interview was detailed, and intense, but not too bad (I don't remember it specifically, now). I believe, beyond needing to know I had the required skills, they wanted to know that I was amiable and mature enough to fit into a serious office setting. (There is no real levity in a CPA firm).

    Interview Questions

    • Probably, whether I would be available to work late and on the week-ends during the two main tax seasons (personal and corporate).   1 Answer

    Negotiation

My staffing recruiter negotiated for me. She asked me what I needed and got it.
