I am grateful for all of the opportunities that I have had in my life and accept the challenges that those opportunities came with. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to come to the USA and study at Cal Poly Pomona. It was there that I met my wonderful husband David with whom I was blessed to have two amazing children. Nevertheless with family, friends and faith I was able to succeed and grow in this crazy roller coaster we call life in spite of the loss of my husband to cancer three years ago. I am now thankful for this new opportunity at HFT where I can implement productivity improvements utilizing the experience that I have garnished over the years.

The Harbor Freight Tools Associate Emergency Relief Fund is a charitable organization providing emergency assistance to associates of HFT and their families who require financial assistance due to a catastrophic event or a personal crisis.
Harbor Freight made an initial contribution to open the Fund and currently matches associate contributions on a two-for-one dollar basis. One of Harbor Freight's core principles is “Community,” which means that we believe in giving back, and that is why we encourage each of our associates to give what they can to help those in need.

Great benefits. Fun fast paced environment. Paid holidays. Sick time and vacation time accrue quickly. Promote from inside the company.
Bad hours. Upper management is very negative to employees "below them". No positive reinforcement for hard work. Unrealistic expectations for LOD program.
Advice to Management
The LOD program needs to be structured better. I feel that it can actually inhibit customer service because you must be out on the floor at all times which makes it hard to give individual customer service. IE: Checking in the warehouse for an item or actually pulling the item yourself for the customer so there is little wait.
I applied online. The process took 5+ weeks. I interviewed at Harbor Freight Tools (Pittsburgh, PA) in September 2016.
As an older, more experienced job applicant I had applied for a Sales Associate position with HFT. Within one week I was asked to come in for an interview. When I interview, I am always well groomed, wearing a suit regardless of the position and act in the highest capacity for a prospective candidate. I prepare for the interview by researching the Company, having a list of potential questions to ask the Interviewer, a well thought out "Tell me about yourself" reply, why are you making this employment change, etc.. During the interview, I was informed the position I applied for was only part-time, as they try to promote from within. The Store Manager and I spoke about my experiences, strengths, and hope for a career with HFT. Based on our conversation I was offered a higher paying and more substantial leadership opportunity as a Logistics Senior Associate with the opportunity to transfer to a new store opening soon less than 2 miles from my house. The interview took approximately 1 hour after which he submitted my info for a background check. Due to the District Manager being out of the country for 2 weeks was the hold-up for an offer. In the meantime, the Store Manager and I had several very encouraging phone conversations. I received my offer and within 15 minutes the Store Manager had called to check if I had received the email offer. He exclaimed to me the advancement opportunities were abundant. I will be starting my NEW Career with HFT next week!!!
I was able to negotiate a higher position and pay.
