Mission: Harley-Davidson fulfills dreams of personal freedom.
Harley-Davidson fulfills dreams of personal freedom for people around the world. This has been our bold and unique purpose since 1903.
We give people the means to express themselves; the means to liberate themselves from whatever constrains them. To do this, we must be the best at helping customers achieve personal freedom. Their journey begins when they feel a deep emotional connection to our exceptional and distinct products. Our retail experience takes them a step further, connecting them to the brand in their own highly personal and customized way. We can build the motorcycle the customer wants, when they want it, through flexible manufacturing. Fulfilling dreams of personal freedom requires us to work as one company, one team, moving in one direction. We are customer led in all we do, and we believe and invest in our people and our communities. When we live our purpose, customers experience a lasting bond of freedom with one another and our dealers and H-D will continue to grow.
Just like the V-Twin beats at the heart of every motorcycle we produce, the Harley-Davidson culture is at the core of what has made our company successful for more than 113 years. Harley-Davidson provides employees opportunities for professional growth and development because we believe our people are what make our company great. We also recognize that great companies require great leaders to ensure a sustainable future and strive to build leadership at every level.
We demonstrate behaviors throughout our organization that exemplify integrity, accountability, diversity, teamwork, and creativity. Our culture is influenced by our passionate customers, reminding us that we do what we do every day for our loyal customers around the world – fulfilling their dreams of personal freedom every minute of every day.
We recognize the critical role our diverse workforce plays in bringing our purpose to life in our workplace and in the marketplace. Our Global Diversity and Inclusion Councils (GDIC’s) and Business and Employee Resource Groups (BERG's) provide employees with opportunities to grow and develop as well as support business initiatives and are agents of change within the company.
Our Local Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Councils localize certain aspects of the Global Diversity and Inclusion Strategy such as building awareness, promoting a more inclusive work environment, and helping to further the professional development of all employees and strengthening linkages to communities in which employees live and work. Employee-led Diversity and Inclusion Councils are comprised of employees at each Harley-Davidson Motor Company location and are responsible for implementing defined aspects of the Global Diversity and Inclusion Strategy at the local level.
BERGs help employees with common backgrounds, interests and aspirations to achieve professional aspirations and increase their potential in contributing to Harley-Davidson’s success in the workplace, marketplace and community. Our BERGs are a critical element in creating a culture of inclusion and a workplace that supports diversity of background, thought, and perspective. These voluntary, employee-led groups are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment within the context of our purpose, values, goals and business objectives.
BERGs benefit all employees and the Company by:

I worked at Harley-Davidson full-time (More than 10 years)
I was provided plenty of opportunities for growth and development. HD rewards employees who work hard and drive results while demonstrating positive behaviors - meaning you can't just steamroll over people to get results. Good vacation policy including for Milwaukee based salary teams getting a holiday shutdown. I was compensated fairly and received bonuses. I felt that leadership listened and valued my opinion.
The company has a tendency to sign up for too much work and don't always know how to stop work that is not necessary. If you are a high performer there is a feeling or perception that you can not say no to work.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Harley-Davidson (Milwaukee, WI) in August 2017.
Met with a few people across GIS for the first 45 minutes and the other 45 was with an HR associate. They first asked me to walk through my resume and we spent a few minutes talking about a few items they had questions or wanted to know more about. The interview questions were all behavioral and pretty difficult. They were very wordy and confusing. I would suggest asking them to repeat the question if you forget half-way through your answer, like I did, and asking if you answered their question when you are finished.
