I have been working at Harris County full-time (Less than a year)
The county offers great job stability, frequent raises, and occasional cost of living raises. The benefits are ok for single employees. No weekend work.
- Cost of adding family members to insurance is super high
- Promotions are sometimes based on skin color, not actual skill
- Sometimes management chooses the easy route instead of the ethical route
Advice to Management
The interview process was different to what may be expected. Convocation for the summer internship started since early January and was sent to many Texas' universities. To complete the application one had to write a cover letter stating why we want to work with Harris County and why we are good candidates. Also a resume was required. To hear back from them took a very long time (3 weeks before the start day of the internship). No interview was required.
