You're invited to join a dynamic group of men, women, and young adults who serve Health First, its hospitals and affiliates, and the community. Our volunteers are men and women of all ages and walks of life. Each volunteer brings his or her own special skills and experience, but shares a common purpose, too. Our volunteers all have in common their own special skills, experience and willingness to help and comfort patients, and provide support to our staff. When you become a volunteer, you always receive more than you give. Some of the most pleasant moments enjoyed by our patients are moments given by volunteers.

We have more than 1,000 members ranging in age from 15 to 90+! Training is provided in each service assignment. Volunteers are acquainted and familiarized with each Health First hospital and the Volunteer Services Department during a comprehensive orientation program. We'll teach you everything you need to know to handle your new responsibilities.

Service opportunities

A few of our volunteer opportunities include:

  • Admitting area
  • Auxiliary
  • Cheer cart

  • Junior auxilians
  • Mailroom

For more than two decades, our mission has remained the same, to care for you now and into the future. We are committed to becoming an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), not just in name, but in function and experience. In a true IDN, hospitals, health insurance and providers work together to treat the whole person and focus on wellness—instead of just treating disease.

I worked at Health First full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, great benefits. There was never a dull moment. Every day I felt of value and always learned new things. It was challenging as well as fulfilling. Great managers, coworkers, and physicians. Truly a caring and positive environment.

    Cons

When it comes to disability (specifically mental health, bipolar - manic episode...they have zero tolerance and you will be terminated. If you have mental illness, which is not understood by many, you are easily expendable...even after being a dedicated, hardworking employee with nothing but positive reviews for the past five years.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Health First (Viera, FL) in January 2018.

    Interview

They had to reschedule my original appointment but didn't tell me why. Phone interview was very quick and easy. They asked very basic behavioral job questions. lasted about 20 minutes. They said they would let me know about setting up a face-to-face interview
