I worked at Heller Ehrman full-time (More than a year)
Genuinely good people (for a big firm). Very nice place to work. Great lawyers and colleagues. Lots of opportunities to work with great lawyers.
They tried the same strategy that every big law firm in the country tried - to get only high end work, growing around the world. Some firms can do that in NY, some firms can do that around the world, but not every firm can do that.
Advice to Management
Don't try to be too much like NY or super high end firms to the exclusion of regular work and long term relationships with clients.
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Heller Ehrman.
Interview was a bit akward because everyone know that Heller was in a bit of financial trouble but the extent of which was not clear. I asked the interviewer how everyone at the firm felt which got things off to a really bad start. Otherwise Interview was pretty typical and I clearly dodged a bullet here.
