We’re looking for the fearful yet fearless.
We want to make the future. If you haven’t done it before, you should be a bit fearful. Fearful of the unknown, fearful of not having all the answers. But at the same time, you should also be fearless. Fearless in the sense that you are confident that you will figure it out, that you are a born problem solver.
Show us what you’ve got.
Be a Dreamer
The best ideas are born from dreamers with a passion that drives them forward each and every day. At Hello, we approach every challenge with that same dreamer mentality—seeing no limitations when it comes to accomplishing a vision, regardless of what people say. In fact, if someone thinks it’s crazy, it’s probably a good idea. Aim higher, think deeper, and dream bigger. Achieving the impossible starts with you.
Always Can Do
Obstacles are just another opportunity to seek out solutions—but how you accomplish them is all about your frame of mind. Choose positivity, bravery, and risk-taking. Cultivate an attitude that propels you forward into the unknown until you find your way. Complainers don’t change the world, doers do. When you think creatively and trust your intuition, you’re bound to find an answer to the problem you seek to solve. For those who say you can’t, show them you can.
Behind all of the work is a deep level of ownership and sense of care in everything we do. Whatever you touch in the studio is yours to drive forward. This means anticipating what’s ahead, focusing on the details as much as the end result, and pushing your ego aside to not just get it done, but get it done right. Everyone has a piece in the work we put out there. Be accountable to yourself and to one another—individual ownership leads to collective care. Excellence is an attitude.
Work Harder than Anyone Else
Each day you have to ask yourself if you’re willing to do what others are not. It’s us versus the world. Greatness requires grit, a level of toughness, determination, and perseverance. You’re the only person who knows when you’ve given it your all—or when you haven’t. Choosing to go the extra mile is to gain something new. Whether it’s experience, knowledge, skill, or awards—whatever you gain, it’s forever yours. Work hard and see what greatness happens.
We’re Stronger Together
It’s impossible to do what we do alone. It’s to our advantage to work together—constantly learning from one another and pushing each other further. Any great team is centered on accountability, where trust and respect aren’t just given—they’re earned. Be true to your word, operate with honesty, and recognize that it’s okay if you don’t know the answer. We’re all working for the same team here, so let’s come together to make the best one there is.
Be Open and Curious
We’re in a constant state of learning at Hello, where asking questions and seeking the unknown is not only encouraged—it’s imperative. Because no matter the years of experience or level of skill, you’re never done growing. Find that balance between fearless and fearful, knowing that being humble and falling into failure is how you grow. To be a master in your craft is to make mistakes, listen to those around you, and know that you’re never done finding new ways to see the world.
Why Before What or How
Ask “why?” We collaborate closely with our clients to understand their business strategy and how to close the gap between where they are and where they want to go. Only then do we talk about what we should do and how we should execute. Own the category.
Show, Don’t Tell
It’s not what you say that matters, but what you do. We work with our clients’ brands to focus on how they can transform their business by innovating new products, services, and experiences. Disrupt by changing the game.
Questions lead to answers. Working with both diverse clients and industries has taught us how important it is to be open. We want to know what sets our clients apart, and how to own those strengths so we can use them to their advantage.
Start with Ideal
We begin by aiming for the ideal result even if it seems impossible to achieve. We will always face challenges but we don’t let them stop us from getting off the ground. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and having a relentless, can-do spirit.
Simplify and Unify
Simplicity is everything you need and nothing you don’t. It takes great discipline to say no when everyone else is saying yes. We unify a brand by bringing together diverse elements that only together can make up the larger whole.
Launch and Learn
Data is the most valuable asset. Harness it to see what works and what doesn’t. We are continually refining digital products, services, and experiences so they are more personal and relevant in building brand equity.
We collectively build relationships around our clients’ brands by constantly raising the bar. Never lose sight of the consumer and their perspective. We work to think about how to bring more delight and wonder to their experiences.
Useful, Usable, Desirable
People are always at the center of what we do. We strive to make work that is purposeful, intuitive, and has an emotional connection to draw people to engage with it.
Tell Stories Worth Sharing
Storytelling is sharing. Reveal and amplify stories with an authentic voice. Create stories that people can’t wait to hear. Tell human stories that inspire, and people will tell your story for you.
Everything, by Design
Everything we do is by design. We spend the proper time focusing on the details. Working collaboratively with our clients, we think about meaningful touch points that lead to truly memorable experiences and interactions.
I have been working at Hello Design full-time
Good designers and strategy co-workers. Senior management is pretty chill. Devs are quiet. Good range of clients.
Projects happen fast. Get pulled onto lots of different things.
Advice to Management
Allow more time to focus on projects.
I applied online. I interviewed at Hello Design (Los Angeles, CA).
Super unprofessional. The interviewer asked me why my salary history wasn't on my resume, before I got to ask a single question about the role or the company. There was no ask for my salary history prior to the interview nor did it need to be on my resume (interviewer should be educated of this). Awful interview experience and on top of that he didn't shake my hand or see me out.
