I worked at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research full-time (More than 5 years)
The Institute is a very well-equipped centre to work on microbiology/immunology and related research disciplines. It has an rich, international scientific community and is very friendly to foreigner employees. I always felt supported during the five years I worked there.
For researchers with academic background like me, it sometimes felt a bit far from the academia (university) atmosphere, both in terms of commute and working interactions. It might be better now that they have their own graduate school.
