I have been working at Highland Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

I reiterate everything that has been said in previous reviews. This company understands its values and truly lives them every day, the first and foremost being "People First". Everyone has a voice and ideas are heard. Management works side by side with their team and are wonderful leaders. Most of all, the people here are just really kind, brilliant and interesting. They are the type of folks you don't mind seeing and talking to every day and (as sometimes is the case) traveling around the country with.

    Other perks to mention:
Very flexible hours and work from home policy
    Once a week catered lunch
    Profit sharing
    Encouragement of professional growth
Great office space in a historic Chicago building

This is not necessarily a con for everyone, but be aware that the company is very small and encourages a lot of camaraderie and socializing. Given there are only 30 or so employees you will get to know everyone pretty immediately and it is nearly impossible to stay anonymous or private. While social activities certainly are not forced, it's fairly conspicuous if you were one to always skip a company lunch, happy hour, etc. This is in no way an issue for me, but if you're the type who would rather never socialize with your co-workers, this might not be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep committed to improving employee diversity and living our core values.

    Easy Interview

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Highland Solutions (Chicago, IL) in February 2015.

This company had me interview with a total of 9 people before offering me a position. I had a total of 4 phone interviews and 1 three hour in-person interview. It seems like a lot, but it was absolutely appropriate! The culture/family vibe at this company is very strong, and it's critical that they find people that not only have the skills to do the job but who will also fit into this culture and continue to promote a positive work environment. And ultimately, isn't that what you want to get out of an interview too? That the people you'll be surrounded by everyday are people you can gel with? I'm so glad for all the interviews and people I met in the process. It encouraged me to choose this company over other offers I received.
