    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Holy Names University (Oakland, CA) in April 2013.

    Interview

Group based, formal, panel interview. No individual one-on-one during the process. You will face 4-6 staff members, seated, and answer questions in round-robin. You will be seated singly, facing the panel in a empty university classroom or conference room for 1 hour.

Ask questions when prompted! Focus on their infrastructure, current open issues, policy or staff changes, and employee retention. And about training, and a training schedule.

Ask about how the university community feels about, or respects the department. Ask questions about hours (this is important) and days you will could be scheduled. Be clear if you prefer not to work weekends, or evenings, as they prefer this, and changing schedules would be difficult, if not impossible after you are hired.

    Interview Questions

    • You may get some questions regarding what you would do in certain IT situations, such as "the difficult customer" or "Exchange wont send mail" or other general question. Be prepared for wiring, telephony, PBX, command line, or other legacy questions. Know Exchange setup and configuration for clients on an active directory domain.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

I wouldn't take less then $30 an hour. You will be working nights and weekends.
