    I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HotSchedules (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2019

    Interview

    TL;DR: Staff = professionally, sincere, integrity; manager = insincere, aversion to change, blocker

    I had initial phone script to scope mutual interests and determine if there is a match, scope basic technical depth and experience. I followed up with an onsite interview. The staff engineers were personal, engaged, honest, and just all around great personalities, and they have really excellent questions.

    The only negative experience was the leadership, which left an imprint that there was a strong aversion of change. This might be from recent changes with loss of staff. There's realization of a need toward a DevOps culture, but unfortunately, I don't see buy-in support from management. Additionally, there was no room to have honest conversation regarding ideas, direction, etc., instead of feedback, you'll be pushed out the door.
    Interview

    General questions about change configuration, infrastructure as code, and immutable production. They will scope you on broad knowledge of patterns and tools, and trade offs.
