HubSpot – Why Work With Us?

HubSpot helps millions of organizations grow better by building the software and systems that power the world’s small to medium-sized businesses. Our company culture builds connections, careers, and employee growth. How? By creating a workplace that values flexibility, autonomy, and transparency. Through our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and unique approach to company culture (our Culture Code has more than 4M views), we've redefined how people work and live.

HubSpot has been named Best Place to Work in the eyes of Glassdoor, Fortune, Entrepreneur, Inc. The Boston Globe, and the Boston Business Journal. Founded in Cambridge, MA in 2006, HubSpot has offices in Portsmouth, NH; Dublin, Ireland; Sydney, Australia; Singapore; Tokyo, Japan; Berlin, Germany; Paris, France; and Bogotá, Colombia.

HubSpot Culture: Always Be Growing

At HubSpot, we care deeply about helping people grow. That's why we're committed to creating an inclusive company culture where employees can do their best work. We lead with flexibility because feedback, research, and our own employees show that the number one way to help people grow is by being flexible. Giving HubSpotters the freedom and flexibility to create their own work-life balance builds trust in our company, but it’s also just the right thing to do. That’s why flexibility is at the core of our benefits, perks and culture.

How?

The HubSpot Culture Code is a living, breathing document that shares our values, beliefs, and aspirations as a company. (Today, the Culture Code has over 4 million views and counting on Slideshare.) Transparency, autonomy, and our mission of solving for the customer are at the core of how we work. Employees have the freedom and flexibility to have an impact on the business, and to create a work-life balance that is best for them. We offer unlimited vacation, work-from-home policies, and believe results speak louder than where or when you work. We're passionate about helping employees grow both professionally and personally. That's why we offer a range or programs and perks in our global offices to keep learning and skill-building top of mind from tuition reimbursement, weekly Master Classes, fitness consultations, a Free Books Program, a mini-MBA course, and more.

But if you ask any employee, the best part about working at HubSpot are the people. HubSpotters have H.E.A.R.T., an acronym we use to capture the qualities that we believe make for great co-workers: Humble, Empathetic, Adaptable, Remarkable, Transparent. Thanks to employees around the world, HubSpot has been named a best place to work by Glassdoor, Fortune, Great Places to Work, the Boston Globe, the Boston Business Journal, Entrepreneur, and more.

Product & Engineering

As a product person at HubSpot, you’re part of a small, autonomous team making big things happen. Our customers publish millions of blog posts, send billions of emails, and build new websites with our software. That’s why development is driven by people, not process. If you’re metrics-driven and ridiculously curious, this might be the rocket ship for you.

Sales

Forget what you think you know about sales. Like most things at HubSpot, we take an inbound approach to selling. How? By transforming sales to match the way people shop and buy today. Our mantra isn’t “always be closing.” It’s “always be helping.” That means that as a HubSpot salesperson, you’re finding new opportunities for prospects to grow. You’re showing them modern solutions to old business problems. And you’re moving on up as fast as you're driving results.

Customer Success

Our team is on a mission to help customers grow by delivering best-in-class services and support. That means we’re solving for the customer every day. We love coming up with the creative solutions they need to be more successful with HubSpot. We love creating resources that help them become inbound experts. As part of our services and support teams, you’re part of a customer’s journey to professional and personal growth. It’s kind of a big deal.

Business Enablement

HubSpot’s a fast-growing technology company. We’re the team that keeps it all running. Our mission is to enable scalable growth by building reliable technology. Engineers, analysts, and tech experts create and manage systems to power our teams and their work. As a business enabler here, you’re solving for customers by making HubSpot a faster and more innovative company.

People Operations

HubSpot’s on a mission to build a company people love. We’re the team helping us get there by hiring, growing, and delighting amazing people: our employees. From a HubSpotter’s first day to their first peer bonus, people operations is solving for them every step of way. That means we get to play a big role in the future of the company and of our coworkers. People come here to grow their careers so we think big to make sure they do.

Internships at HubSpot
undefined

At HubSpot, interns aren’t interns in the traditional sense of the word. No coffee runs here. Interns make real decisions, produce real work, and drive real results.

  • HubSpot has internship programs during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters, as well as six-month co-op placements.

  • Each program is built to help our interns learn key marketing, coding, and business skills, and also take advantage of the the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a rapidly growing software company, while having some fun along the way, of course!

  • In fact, we invest so much in our interns that a large percentage of them go on to accept full time positions with HubSpot. Many of our team leaders today started as interns and continue year after year to develop their careers with us.

Start Your Career at HubSpot

We know you might not have it all figured out after graduation, but relax, you don’t have to!

  • At HubSpot, we welcome recent grads into a variety of roles and opportunities including, but certainly not limited to, internships, entry-level sales and marketing roles, product engineers, and technical support engineers.

  • For those who are passionate about marketing, we also offer a full-time marketing leadership rotational program that gives new grads experience in technical support and different sectors of the marketing team, eventually allowing them to settle where their interest and expertise most align.

  • Just because you begin your career with one team at HubSpot doesn’t mean you will be there forever. It’s just that, a beginning. Alumni of our entry-level roles are uniquely positioned to launch into different divisions of the company and have gone on to spearhead some of our most innovative initiatives to date.

Grow Your Career at HubSpotundefined

As we continue to grow and expand, HubSpot recognizes the need to involve individuals with tried and true management leadership experience at the highest levels.

Don’t miss the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of our customers while driving the future of our business forward, be it in sales, marketing, engineering, HR, or services and support. Your insight is invaluable, and we are eager to learn from you.

I have been working at HubSpot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've been working at HubSpot for less than a year and these are the things that I've loved since starting

    - Flexibility: Just be sure to communicate with your team and managers and flexibility of schedule is offered to you if you need it. It makes you feel like you're in charge of your schedule as long as you're producing the expected amount of work.

    - Autonomy: At first, coming from a different company/culture, this was an adjustment. But, I can honestly say that I love being in charge of making my own day to day priorities while driving towards an overall set goal. It makes me feel empowered and I take pride and ownership over the work I'm doing each day.

    - Great People Work Here: Amazing people ready to welcome anyone that is new and help with any questions.

    - Creative Freedom/Everyone's Opinion Matters

    Cons

The only con I have would be the sense of being overwhelmed a bit at the beginning of my career here. There is a lot of information available to new employees and it can be hard to determine where to start. The learning and development team does a great job of trying to set you off on the right path though.

    Software Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Cambridge, MA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in October 2019.

    Interview

I found their job posting online and was emailed a coding challenge a few days later. You were given three hours to complete the following problem: You must hit a unique api to receive json data, modify and analyze the data, and then generate json in a specific format and post the data back to a different url. If the data was formatted correctly it responded with a 200 and you were told to zip up your code and upload it.

After the coding challenge I was asked to schedule a phone screen with a recruiter. They asked common questions about my experience, why hubspot, why ____, etc. At the end of the phone screen I was told the next step if I make it will be a final round on site interview, and that they will let me know of their decision in a week or so.

I ended up getting to the final round interview. It was four parts. First part was a a tour of their office, second was a technical interview with a CS question about n-grams that could be programmed in any language of my choosing. The third interview was half behavioral half javascript specific, focusing on prototype inheritance, closures, etc. The last section was a wrap up about my interview experience and any suggestions, salary expectations, other outstanding offers, etc.

A few days later I was given a phone call and given an offer that exceeded my expectations
