Pursuing your passions while having amazing co-workers? What a dream. For Sydney, that’s been her reality for the past six years. “Coming from a sports background, I remember the first time I learned about Hudl at a Computer Science career fair. I realized right then and there that I could combine my passions in sports and technology into one and make a career out of it. To this day, that has held true. I get to come to work every day and use my knowledge in the sports world to ensure we are building high quality and world class products for our customers to use. To put the cherry on top, the people I work with at Hudl make it worth coming to work every day. They take pride in working hard, sharing their wisdom and expertise, and that encourages me to bring the best version of myself to work every day.” Sydney Shutter | Manager, Quality Assurance | Texas #WhyHudl

Our CEO says it best: we have the best and brightest interns working with us! “A strong internship program has always been key to Hudl’s success, which is why I was thrilled to have the chance to chat with this impressive class of interns yesterday. I really appreciated the opportunity to hear more from them and to answer their questions covering all types of topics, like advice about starting a company, the challenges Hudl has faced (many!) and tips for work-life harmony. I can safely say we have some of the best and brightest interns working with us, and I'm excited to see the impact they’ll continue to have on Hudl or on whatever challenge they decide to take on next.” David Graff | CEO | Lincoln, Nebraska Looking for an internship in Lincoln this fall? Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Diversity Programs & Initiatives

Hudl has doubled down on DE&I efforts in the past few years. With the introduction of employee resource groups (ERGs), employees are more supported to be their authentic selves at work. Alongside these ERGs, the Together@Hudl task force continues to provide ways to get educated and have valuable discussions on social issues. Hudl’s leadership has also made a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging by making our company goals around DE&I and diversity reports public.

    Interview

Initial interview went well. I received all the info I needed about the company and felt that the role might have not been good for me as such but that Hudl would be willing to support me in achieving my career progression.

I was requested to do an assessment within a week. This has to be done in playwright but any other tool can be used. I submitted the assessment in 5 days and was told I would hear back in 2 days. After 2 days I only heard that they were still chasing the people to review it. A week after i finally heard back that I had passed to the next round. (During this time HR kept in touch apologising for the delay). So it took 1.5 weeks to review something they had requested. I find this a bit disrespectful in the sense … if they don’t have the employers willing to review the code they request then maybe the process is going wrong and they should change for a live in code type interview.

By the time I heard back that I had passed to the next round I had already received offers so I decided to decline to continue.

It’s a shame because Hudl was one of my favourite companies i was interviewing for but I couldn’t risk losing the other offers.
