I interned at the Cooper lab last summer. Amazing mentoring and learning opportunities and smart people all around!
probably not a good place for someone not interested in learning and growing
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology (Huntsville, AL) in April 2016.
Applied online, got a reply fairly quickly (within about 1.5 weeks) about setting up an initial phone screen. Phone screen was with another developer and an HR rep and was fairly casual and mostly focused on previous software development experiences, career goals, and experience working with different languages/technologies. The next step was another phone interview with the hiring manager which wasn't technical and mostly focused on previous experiences, motivations for applying, etc. Final step was an on-site but unfortunately had to cancel because I accepted another offer.
Overall my experience was very very positive. All the employees who interviewed me were friendly, open, and very willing to answer questions about work-life balance and living in Huntsville, AL. Hiring manager was very passionate about her work and did a great job of explaining the career path that led her to HudsonAlpha and explaining why she stayed.
