I worked at Hutchinson and Bloodgood full-time (More than a year)
The firm provides any accounting professional a great opportunity to expand and grow their career. Given its size, most employees are not required to pick between audit or tax and are provided the opportunity learn about various industries from a wide range from nonpublic, public and nonprofit engagements in tax (US and International), audit (GAAP & IFRS), reviews, and compilations, which is great for any employee coming from an entry level.
Employees starting both entry and senior level have a great opportunity to learn directly from knowledgable managers and partners. If you are in a more senior position looking for an opportunity to grow within a firm, this is the place to do it, as they are always open to new idea that will help facilitate any engagement and/or internal firm operation.
H&B’s culture is very friendly, easy going and family oriented. Like any accounting firm, busy season is hard work and requires long work days. However, H&B’s culture is very much family oriented and flexibility is provided for any employee that communicates its need to work from home. All in all, any person that works and leaves H&B, will miss its employees!
The pressure of busy season is hard, like in any accounting firm, as long as one communicates their workload and their work schedule, busy season will be smooth and manageable.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hutchinson and Bloodgood (Glendale, CA) in December 2018.
I was contacted by the firm's recruiter for an in person interview. During the first interview, I filled out the hiring application and was interviewed separately by three partners. The interview went smoothly, all partners were very professional and courteous during the process. Each partner talked about the firm and about their expertise in the firm. They also asked many questions about my skills and experience. A few days later, I was called back for a second interview to meet with another partner and director. The second interview process was the same as the first. A week after the second interview, I received an offer from the partner in charge of the office and went through back ground checks before starting my position two weeks later.
