    I worked at IAEA full-time

    Pros

UN facility in Vienna is fantastic. The multi-cultural environment is a great opportunity to learn about how to work with people from all over the world.

    Cons

It can be very difficult to get in the door. Try to meet other English speakers in Vienna who work in the IAEA first so that you can get connected.

    Advice to Management

Fix the Plateau 3 and AIPS problems so that the Admin sections (specifically Human Resources) can do their jobs with less stress.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at IAEA in May 2017.

    Interview

They contacted me well in advance. There was a panel of three: the Head of the Department I applied for, another Head from another department and HR. They took turns questioning. HR questions were predictable, while the Head of the department gave very detailed technical questions. Overall, not an easy interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Technical questions related to project management and the department I applied for. I considered that some questions were out of the area of competencies and responsibilities mentioned in the ToR.   Answer Question
