I have been working at IAV Automotive Engineering full-time (Less than a year)
There is a lot of freedom to try and do things the way you want to. The company encourages its employees to be creative and develop tools & methods that might be helpful. You don't have to be a part of a process, you can define how you do your work. If you need help, they will get you in contact with technical experts from Germany. It is a great place to learn.
Its is a developing company so pay package is not the maximum a person can get but the work culture is outstanding and the benefits package is very good. Overall I don't think there is a big con.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at IAV Automotive Engineering (Northville, MI) in March 2016.
Interview was very friendly. I was interviewed by 4 people & all of them were nice & smiling. The questions were a bit difficult and very practical. They opened up a engine layout and asked me to explain what I understood. After that they asked me questions about engine basics (speed, load and emissions). Finally the technical details of the projects I did. Overall a great experience. It was not like an HR interview, very technical & they test you basic understanding.
