Environmental Health and Safety Manager Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Newark, DE

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at INVISTA (Newark, DE) in February 2018.

    Interview

I saw the position posting and was not quite sure I wanted to apply. I researched my LinkedIn network to see if there were any employees I could speak with about the position. I found a second level connection and reached out to request an informational interview. This employee was in fact the hiring manager, which I was totally unaware of, so I had addressed this part of the process without realizing it. After this conversation, I became very interested in the position and applied on the company website. Two and half weeks later I received a call from the HR recruiter as an initial screen. A week later I was scheduled for a face to face interview at the site with the hiring manager and members of the site team. The interview lasted about 5 and half hours, spending roughly 45 minutes with each team member and a break for lunch with the hiring manager and a tour of the facility. It was a standard behavioral interview. The team was very friendly and put me at ease. I reviewed the potential questions listed in this section and felt well prepared. The following day I had a separate call with the HR director. I was told this person would normally be attending via conference call but the director was traveling at the time. 3 days later the hiring manager called to offer me the position. This was followed up with formal offer letter from HR.
