I worked at Ideal Electrical Supply full-time (More than 10 years)
Carved out a niche in a multi-billion dollar industry.
Long tenured core staff.
Mom and Pop mentality even after tremendous record breaking growth.
Absent owners who micro manage. Yes somehow it is possible.
Small number of employees makes moving up in the ranks difficult.
High turnover in any position not held by tenured staff.
Advice to Management
Provide standardized training for new employees and routine training for current ones.
Standard Operating Procedures and policies should be in place and not handled on an "as is" basis.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Ideal Electrical Supply (Washington, DC) in July 2012.
Interview was basic. They were impressed that I had researched the company. No surprises during the interview.
No negotiation. They told me what the job was paying in the interview.
