I have been working at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) part-time
Great work-study position. It gives you time to focus on your school work and at the same time you can build your careers and build networks with people. Financial wise it is ok to live a life in Fort Wayne if you live cheaply.
It can be a little difficult to focus on your midterm and final week since most of major works happen during that time. If you can handle multiple tasks at the same time, it would not be a problem. Also, you boss might be a professor and she/he might not manage your work that often. You are the one who needs to find work and complete in timely manner.
Advice to Management
I realized sometimes the work doesn't come out until it is close to due date. Since there are no project manager in most of department, nobody tracks who is working on what. The lack of management can be sometimes stressful
I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).
Interview was a list of questions read off by employers. Too many people in an interview when really only one person's opinion mattered. It was an easy process but now that I am employed the process could have been explained more.
There was no negotiation phase.
