What does every D.C. tech company with high morale have in common? Free food? Unlimited swag? Flexible vacation time? Nope. Behind every successful tech company in this town is a (few) loving office dog(s)! Working behind a desk can be dull even at the most amazing tech startup.

Industry Dive – Why Work For Us?

We are a company founded on the belief that executives should have access to the content they need in a way that is intuitive and insightful, no matter the device. Our team pushes the boundaries of business journalism and marketing.

We provide business leaders with a bird's-eye view of their industry. Our editors analyze the top news stories and publish in-depth feature articles. We also surface industry events, jobs, commentary and more.

Dive readers are industry execs who make purchasing decisions. We have a marketing team and dedicated brand studio that connect industry solution providers with our audience.

We prioritize the user experience. Our designers and developers build intuitive products that are device agnostic. We make business news easy to read, meaningful, and fun.

After years of working together in digital media, @seangriffey, @ryanwillumson, and @esd began to notice a consistent trend. They saw that, while mobile devices were changing the way people worked and consumed information, traditional business media was slow to adapt. Despite the obvious trends toward mobility, B2B content models, user interfaces, and marketing products were stuck in the past.

In 2012, they launched Industry Dive to meet the needs of busy industry executives - providing insights and analysis to help them do their jobs. The company originally set up shop in an old corner grocery market in the Adams Morgan section of Washington, DC. In that location, they launched the first five publications, including Utility Dive and Education Dive. They were there until the landlord – and investor – sold the place to an architecture agency.

Industry Dive then upgraded to a historic row house in the heart of Dupont Circle, shared with the Embassy of Albania. In this location, the team launched the next 4 publications and grew to over 25 employees. After expanding the Dupont office more than 3 times, the team finally relocated to a larger space in Chinatown.

Industry Dive currently has products in 12 vertical markets and reaches more than 2 million senior industry executives each month. The team has grown from the three original founders to a staff of almost 50 employees.

Throughout it all, the vision and commitment has remained the same - build a world class team and media company.

Management, culture, people, you name it. The best part of this job is how much better everyone makes each other. A great place to develop your skills and build meaningful relationships with colleagues.

None really. You're expected to work hard and earn it, but that's part of what makes the culture so strong.

    Advice to Management

Maintain all the positives as the company grows. Continue investing in employees as much as possible.

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Industry Dive in May 2017.

HR reached out to me over e-mail to schedule a time to chat. She got back to me the same day which I really appreciated! We had our talk and the next day she scheduled me for a phone interview with the manager of the team. The questions were pretty basic, just going through my resume and how it fits the job description. They got back to me after a couple days to let me know I didn't get the job. I appreciated that they didn't make me wait weeks to hear back.
