Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

  1. Customer Success Manager Interview

    Difficult Interview
    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at InspectionXpert (Raleigh, NC)

    Interview

This was overall a huge waste of my time. I interviewed with them over the course of about 5 weeks and even spent over half a day at there office for one of the “interviews”. I also spent $20+ parking in the garage because I had to go there so many times. I get why they have so many interviews and want you to meet every single person, but I feel my time and money was wasted. Throughout the process they kept saying they liked me and wanted to bring me on board only to end up rejecting me for the role by saying I wasn’t the absolute perfect fit but not giving me ANY feedback.

The first interview was with three people and was pretty standard. Second, they had me write a sample process document. Then the “half” day where I interviewed with seven more people including the CEO, sat in two different meeting, and interviewed again with the same three people from the first interview. Overall this took up about six hours of my day. Almost a full workday. They had me come back to have lunch with the same three people because we didn’t get to go walk and get coffee during the “half” day. I got the rejection email the next morning.

Also, halfway through the process they changed the role a bit so it wasn’t even what I had initially applied for.
