“I have been associated with many sales teams in my career, and I can honestly say this is the most professional, team-oriented sales organization I have seen. Because we are all owners of this company, we all recognize that we have to push ourselves to be successful. I have been working at Interactive Intelligence full-time (More than a year)
Using cutting edge AWS technology. Relaxed, fun work environment where you are constantly learning. Choose your platform Mac, Linux or god forbid Windows. Want two thunderbolt monitors? Fine. Want a 4k monitor? Sure thing. Get to go to AWS this year in Vegas. Smart, fun people, stock options, your own office, ESP. snacks, coffee, beer, foosball, pingpong. Technology is king and engineers are the coin of the realm, or maybe vice-versa.
Some people don't seem to get AWS or anything other than the current stale platform. PTO is on the low side since there is no separate sick leave. This leads people to try to work from home when sick or worse yet come in when sick. Definitely some people who are dead wood but since they have been at the company so long they are untouchable. Sometimes tenure and experience are good, sometimes its just people coasting on titles they earned 5 or 10 years ago. The non "High Deductible" health insurance plan is extremely expensive and if you are in RDU getting some of the benefits which rely on the Health Clinic (such as measurements for the health "reward" program) can be difficult.
Advice to Management
Great job in RDU getting a cool office up and running and staffing it with amazing and talented people. RDU management is by and large excellent, available, knowledgable and concerned about the product and the employees. Competition in the RDU area for engineers is pretty stiff and most of us hear from recruiters weekly; probably because InIn has recruited some extremely strong people. While the environment is great you will need to keep compensation and benefits competitive, especially with InIn's health insurance option being so expensive. Spend some time and/or money upgrading RDU area benefits such as HR, health club and health clinic.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Interactive Intelligence (Indianapolis, IN) in September 2015.
First interview with HR then with the lead, finally technical interview with the team ( technical questions plus online coding test ). The people are SO friendly it is so nice to have such a friendly environment.
