Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

  1. Associate Customer Success Manager Interview

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Interos (United States)

I am beyond disappointed with the way the Interos interview process was conducted. A recruiter initially reached out and interviewed. He was very nice and worked very hard to orchestrate everything throughout the entire process. The issues arose towards the end of the interviewing process with the Customer Success team. For my 3rd interview, they had me meet with someone who had barely worked with the company and honestly made me feel like someone was on vacation and they didn’t want to keep me waiting, so they just threw someone in. I was told that the fourth interview would be the last interview. I waited anxiously for a day or so, excited to hear back, but received another request for an interview. I was hoping I would be offered a position during that FIFTH interview (on a Friday). She was very pleasant, and asked questions like, “if you were offered the position would you accept?” and “when can you start?” and told me to “expect a call next week.” Without any initiation on my part she was telling me more about the team and how I would fit into the role. It was like an onboarding call without an official offer.

I waited around for almost a week! I emailed the recruiter on Tuesday looking for an update. He thanked me for my patience and told me he’d be meeting with the team later that day. By Thursday I still had not heard anything, so again I reached out to him again. This time he stated that I had not been selected, there was a very competitive list of applicants, and I was in the final 3 but had zero feedback for me.

What really upsets me is the inconsistency and lack of communication on the team’s part. It was clear to me that they had not been fully communicating with the recruiter, leaving him nothing to communicate with me. Along with that, why would the final round interviewer ask me those questions and go into so much detail to then choose someone else? What a total waste of my time! If they had another candidate in mind, they could have given that person a date by which s/he must accept or decline the offer, and offer it to me or the other candidate the following day. To string me along in this way, as well as string along the 3rd candidate is unacceptable and unprofessional. I can’t help but feel that I have really dodged a bullet here.

Improve your communication Customer Success team and quit wasting people’s time!
