It had the potential to be a very successful business model, as noted below in the cons section. But senior management tossed that right out the window.
Should be called 'Invest Stink' because their senior management is completely inept. They canned half of the staff earlier this year. The first sign of the ship sinking was when it was told they have not made money in several years. Then the CEO was removed in February, with no replacement named. Not what one would consider a company with a vision for the future.
When they laid off half the staff, to enable themselves to be able to sleep at night and look themselves in the mirror, they claimed the cuts were 'cost cutting'. It was anything but that, as management who made the layoff decisions, were the same people who drove the ship direct into the ground. This was a business model that could have and should have survived the recession, as they were paid on head counts using the software. Regardless of what the participant balances were worth, so long as the head counts increased via bringing in new business, it should have survived. Instead, the inept and atrocious management, marked by sitting back and not developing concrete plans to grow the business, chasing down the wrong types of new clients, and an unwillingness to committ to building the business model led to the disaster of layoffs, and the loss of jobs for innocent people (who had absolutely no hand in the decisions that led to failure) with families and responsibilities. Management, to again rationalize their deeds, stated layoffs are all over, so it's part of life.
The work environment was marked at this company with senior management surrounding themselves with cronies from prior companies they worked at, who ironically were some of the least effective and most negative attitudes. Yet of course these people survived the layoff. And a hostile environment as well, with some of these cronies allowed to carry on in unprofessional manners with little or no reprimand.
They wanted a fresh approach, and brought in some new staff some time ago. Well, most of them were let go, and now the same old villains who caused the problems remain. This comapny had its chance to do good things; it threw it right out the window.
Advice to Management
Seek a new line of work. You are completely inept as senior managers and leaders. An absolute shame
