I worked at Ippudo full-time (More than a year)
Team-focused atmosphere, generally nice coworkers
Fairly regular business (and tips)
Free/cheap ramen for employees depending on position
Disagreements and miscommunication between some managers and executives can lead to inconsistent standards and expectations
Pooled tips can be great for more senior employees, not as generous for new employees
Must be ready to work hard and learn quickly
Advice to Management
Communicate more openly about expectations and future plans, when possible. Foster connection between different service teams.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Ippudo (New York, NY) in June 2012.
I submitted my resume to an email address and received a phone call asking to schedule an in person interview. The process overall was very easy and straightforward. They want previous experience in the hospitality industry, The interview was not formal at all and occurred during their break hours. Not sure if it has changed recently, but I cannot imagine it has gotten super complex.
