Mission: As the nation that created the Internet, it is our belief that it is our mission to secure it. We set out on creating a capability to do just that by founding IronNet Cybersecurity with an unmatched team of experts from government, industry and academia.

IronNet Cybersecurity – Why Work With Us?

Why We're Here

In 2014, we started working with industry leaders to collectively defend critical infrastructure from advanced nation-state threats. We discovered that cyber defenses were too reliant on signature-based solutions and lacked the scalability to provide full enterprise visibility in real-time. Even if industry peers wanted to work together, they could not, due to an inability to detect the tactics and techniques used to target individual enterprises.

For collective defense to work, we needed a different type of cybersecurity solution, one that identified behavioral anomalies at scale within an individual enterprise and one that could anonymously share detected events within a trusted circle of peers at machine speed for higher order correlation and analysis.

We founded IronNet Cybersecurity with an unmatched team of experts from industry, government, and academia to partner with public and private enterprises to build and operate a collective defense infrastructure that helps defend industries and the nation from advanced threats.

IronNet works to attract and retain the best talent in our industry. Come and share in our culture. Make a difference now by facing the challenges that are threatening global networks. You can be a part of the solution.

We believe that our cutting-edge cybersecurity solution will fundamentally change the way the world does cyber.

Collective defense is essential to our collective security.

We are the nation that created the Internet.

It is our mission to secure it.

Abhinav Kore
Network Security Engineer

I work as a Network Security Engineer at IronNet. Just like any other new grad student, I am extremely passionate about putting my skills to great use and I never want to stop learning. Few people will be fortunate enough to constantly learn new things throughout their career, but IronNet is one of the rare organizations that gives employees an opportunity to do so.

I feel fortunate to work amongst the smartest people in the field, who help me stay motivated every single day and push me to achieve my goals and dreams faster. I love the culture of IronNet, where everyone is encouraged to bring innovative ideas to the table.

I have an MS from New York University in Computer Engineering with majors in Networking and Security, and a BS from GITAM University, India in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

I play cricket and table-tennis during my free time, and binge watching Netflix is my other favorite pastime.

Lauren Fox
Senior Engineering Project Manager

I never expected to find myself working in the IT field, especially not Cybersecurity, after receiving my degree in Sociology in college. Prior to my time at IronNet I was working as an administrative assistant at another IT company. In my free time I ended up learning test software and eventually became a QA Engineer there. Now, I am a Senior Engineering Project Manager at IronNet helping to make sure that all of our development efforts are running smoothly and track our progress as we develop new features. When I’m not at work I enjoy traveling, volunteering at church, practising yoga, and enjoying a craft beer!

Gaurav Vanvari
Software Engineer

I am a Software Engineer at IronNet Cybersecurity on the Test Engineering Team. IronNet provides me with a family-like environment; my coworkers are my biggest critics, which helps me constantly improve my skills, and do things the most efficient ways. It’s all in good fun, we share lots of laughs while collaborating and at happy hours. Besides providing resources and guidance to hone my technical skills, IronNet helps me to develop interpersonal and management skills, plus leadership skills by taking initiative and ownership of my work.

Outside work, I love going to Orangetheory Fitness. I love playing soccer and watching my favorite team Manchester United play. I also enjoy watching comedy and using my life experiences to create my own comedic content.

Casey Rapnicki

SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

My name is Casey Rapnicki and I’m a Site Reliability Engineer here at IronNet. I’ve been in the I.T. field for 13 years and recently have been focusing on the cybersecurity side of the industry. With new and larger attacks happening every day, cybersecurity is an aspect of technology that will become increasingly important. I joined the IronNet family because I love engineering solutions and the challenges it presents to me. The puzzle of where to place IronDefense in a network to help customers understand their network traffic and help them become more aware of the threats they face is what drives me.

Before starting at IronNet, I was Senior Systems Engineer at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. At the Center, which is run by Mitre, I was on the operations team. Being the sole Systems Engineer at the Center presented many challenges and allowed me to solve many puzzles. I hope to use and build upon the knowledge I obtained as I continue to grow with IronNet.

Outside of work, I love to cook, go to concerts, and read science fiction. Live music and cooking are both cathartic experiences for me, so I try to do them often. On the food side, ask some of my colleagues if they have eaten my food because I love to feed people too! My favorite novel series right now is “The Expanse”, which is like Game of Thrones but set in outer space. I recently moved to Ellicott City with my girlfriend and our two cats, but I am originally from right outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Go Blue!

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Zdravka Cankova

DATA SCIENTIST

My name is Zdravka Cankova and I’ve been a Data Scientist at IronNet since 2017. I enjoy the challenge of developing and optimizing algorithms that allow for real-time cyber threat detection, and enable our clients to perform mitigation before the threat spreads across the network.

I have a MS in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University. My backgrounds is in modeling transport of substances in biological systems. I was drawn to the culture at IronNet as it gave me a chance to work as a part of a team with diverse backgrounds in engineering, data science, and cyber threat emulation and detection. Working alongside experts in these fields provides me with a unique opportunity to acquire a diverse array of skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, playing board games with friends and family, and visiting new places.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
– Marie Curie

I have been working at IronNet Cybersecurity full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you have the ambition, individuals have great latitude to contribute their own ideas and explore new ways of bringing value to customers. (There is also room for gears-in-the-machine type of work, if that's more your style.)

There are some great minds to draw inspiration from in IronNet's Data Science and Cyber talent pool.

The leadership has a track record I trust, and the new Co-CEO has been bringing in 'ringers' from previous financially successful ventures.

    Cons

There are a few unnecessarily difficult personalities to deal with. Definitely a small minority of the total population, but as they say, "a bad apple can ruin the bunch". There are some close knit teams that are able to isolate themselves from these psychological inefficiencies, so I don't think it's a company wide problem.

    Advice to Management

Continue to crack down on inefficiencies in bureaucracy and realize even indirect contact with an unpleasant personality could make people want to work elsewhere.
Continue to develop scalable offerings that customers will want.
Refine the mission as it continues, and keep those lofty future plans active and in people's minds for inspiration's sake.
