I worked at Island Hotel Newport Beach full-time (More than a year)
Pay and benefits are competitive and are the higher side of the market, location is good for a city center hotel, and the hotel has been recently remodeled. Many frontline staff members have been there since the Four Seasons days so the quality of service is excellent. Food is excellent. The ownership is solid and will probably never sell the hotel, it is the Irvine Company after all.
Long hours, intense goals, expect to be pushed hard and not have much of a social life. Sales and Marketing was somewhat "Old School", which was both pro and con, very little work life balance. Mid level+Upper management turned over often. Staff would try to create a "family" environment however most management understood that numbers were king.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Island Hotel Newport Beach (Newport Beach, CA) in November 2014.
The manager at the times very nice, a little intimidating at first but was obviously very passionate about his job and made me excited. There were two managers present the majority of the time.
